The rhododendron bush just outside our dining room window was home to a few garden spiders this summer. On two occasions, I could not stay in and do homework all day, so I took a quick break to do a portrait session with one of these guests. This image was actually taken from inside our dining room through the window, since this spider’s web was actually anchored on the pane of the window. I did not notice until I zoomed in using the camera’s Live View function that this spider was eating another insect. Gross! But yet so amazing to watch at the same time.
The spider season is here. I have to blaze a trail every morning just to get to my truck. Soon the early morning dew will be revealing the intricacies of the webs and there will be many photo opportunities. The macro shots of these creatures show a little too much gross detail for me. I prefer the close up photos of bees or ants.
